Eliminating Cervical Cancer in Oregon – We Need Your Help!
All Oregonians can play a part in eliminating cervical cancer while impacting five other cancers!
Join Operation Oregon-ize, a statewide network working actively toward elimination of this public health problem.
Cervical cancer is preventable.
The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes more than 99% of cervical cancers. HPV infection is associated with five other types of cancers that affect all people, including anal, oropharyngeal, penile, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. The HPV immunization is a cancer prevention tool proven to eliminate cervical cancer while reducing the risk of being diagnosed with these five other cancers.
Operation Oregon-ize is designed to be action oriented and data-driven, utilizing a collective impact approach to eliminating cervical cancer.
- Increase HPV vaccination completion rates to 80% in youth under 17
- Improve cervical cancer screening rates to 70% in Oregon women ages 21 to 65
- Ensure follow-up after abnormal screening results, including referral to treatment and patient navigation
